Details of Best Upcoming Smartphones of Year 2018

Nokia 9

That’s right, Nokia’s next smartphone is rumoured to be called the Nokia 9 and it’s said to be more premium than the recently-announced Nokia 8. That might see the display adopt curved edges with an 18:9 aspect, see the introduction of waterproofing and keep that metal body.

Nokia is also sure to keep the Zeiss partnership going and it will probably offer the bothie function of the Nokia 8 – although there’s talk of it having wide-angle and zoom functions on the rear cameras.

Rumours suggested that the Nokia 9 would surface in 2017, but with the months running away, it’s dubious whether it will be launched this year, with early 2018 now on the cards.

The Nokia 9 name first appeared early in 2017, where Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 were used interchangeably. At the time, no one knew which number Nokia would be giving to its flagship phone, although the rumours started to favour the Nokia 8, which eventually launched in August 2017.

Release date and Price

The price we’ve seen rumoured so far sits at Rs.56,865/- a fair jump up from the Rs.60,599/- price of the Nokia 8.

The Nokia 9 was first rumoured to be appearing in 2017, but with the end of the year approaching, it’s all eyes on 2018. There has been mention of a 19 January launch date according to Chinese media. This is likely to be a global event, so there’s every chance that in the UK it would be an evening launch on Thursday 18 January.

We’ve also seen 3C certification for a device called the TA-1042 in China and it passing through the FCC as TA-1005, suggesting slightly different versions for different markets. This certification suggest that it’s nearing launch.

A January launch means that Nokia gets its device out before the storm of Mobile World Congress 2018. It may well be just planning a launch in China and then hit MWC for the rest of the world at the end of February [Read More Here]

Samsung Galaxy S9 And S9+

Smartphone giants never sleep and it wasn’t long after the launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ (pictured) that we started to hear about Samsung’s future plans. The Samsung Galaxy S9 is thought to be coming in two sizes once again and sticking with the Infinity Display. Having seen the debut of Samsung’s dual camera on the Note 8, we’re also expecting to see these zoom skills coming to the S9+ too, while the smaller S9 sticks to a single camera.

There’s chatter that it will be running Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and we’d be expecting to see it launch around April 2018, perhaps making its debut at Mobile World Congress 2018.

Release date and price

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ were officially announced on 29 March. with general availability starting on 28 April so we aren’t expecting to see the S9 and S9+ before March 2018.

Twitter user Ricciolo1 has claimed the devices will launch earlier in the year than their predecessors. suggesting Mobile World Congress could be the launch platform again, though there have also been a couple of rumours suggesting a CES reveal. The S8 launch was reportedly a little later because of the availability of the hardware needed to power it. With production of the 10nm FinFET hardware now being better established, that delay is unlikely to happen again.

Business Korea believes the S9 and S9+ will be revealed at CES 2018, along with the LG G7. while Venturebeat claims “someone briefed on the company’s plans” has said the two devices are expected to make their first public appearance at the Vegas show in early January. Venturebeat also adds there is still expected to be a March event though. suggesting if anything is revealed about the S9 and S9+ at CES, it could be something small. [Read More here]

Samsung Galaxy Note 9

The Note 8 has barely gone on sale, but Samsung is already talking about the Note 9. In an interview, the development team confirmed that they’d moved straight into planning for the next Note model, including working on enhancing notable features, like the S Pen.\

So there’s no firm details at the moment, but we’d expect Samsung to be unveiling the Galaxy Note 9 in late August 2018, with more enhanced S Pen features.

Apple iPhone 2018 (iPhone 9)

Apple’s yearly iPhone release cycle means that fans are always looking for the next big thing. The latest iPhone may still be hot off the production line, but Apple is almost certainly hard at work on a new model.

While there’s very little in the way of definitive leaks thus far, it’s still easy enough to guess at what’ll be coming.

That’s because (1) Apple is a creature of habit, (2) we know what sort of components and technologies will be available for the release, and (3) mobile industry trends are easy enough to spot.
